Required to work shift patterns including day time, evenings and weekends. Applicants must have experience in working with older people, either in the community or residential setting. An understanding of the physical, social and emotional needs and rights of older people is essential. An ability to communicate well both in written form and verbally is essential as is an ability to cope with personal care. Applicants should be able to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative and have the ability to prioritise their workload. The successful applicant should have an understanding of Health & Safety together with an understanding of the Person Centred approach in relation to Health and Social Care.

Applicants should be positive, responsible, enthusiastic and motivated and have the capacity to cope with demanding work both of a physical and emotional nature. Applicants must also be able to understand the need to maintain confidentiality of people and the workplace. A willingness to undertake relevant training is also essential.

The appointment is subject to satisfactory clearance from Disclosure Scotland and the provision of Criminal Records Checks from other countries as deemed necessary and where they are available. It is a criminal offence for anyone who is on the Disqualified from Working with Children list or disqualified from working with vulnerable adults or the elderly to apply for or to continue to work in this position.
