AWS Ocean Energy is a high-tech company that is developing and delivering the marine energy technology solutions of the future. Our current focus is on commercialising our award winning Archimedes WaveswingTM – a leading technology for generating power from ocean waves and one of only a few with full-scale open-ocean experience. In parallel, we’re researching and designing new and complementary technologies and opportunities for both the wave and tidal sectors.

The expansion of our team based at Alness in the Scottish Highlands, has been sparked by new investment in the company, led by Shell Technology Ventures Fund (STV Fund), previous grant support given by the Scottish Government in 2007 and the new opportunities to work in partnership with Shell that will come via the involvement of the STV Fund in AWS Ocean Energy.

Marine energy will make a growing contribution to the energy mix and in the battle to reduce carbon emissions. We believe that in the Archimedes Waveswing™ we have one of the best of the first generation wave energy devices, in terms of potential economics, reliability, safety and power density. Our first key objective is to demonstrate and prove this technology at commercial scale.
